Bayonne Golf Club

New York Harbour, New Jersey

This high end private golf club was developed on a landfill on the New Jersey shore, directly across from New York City.

Dr. Richard Hurley of Rutgers University consulted with the developers on every step of this project, from soils and sand used, to design elements, choice of grasses and shrubs, etc. Dr. Hurley specified that the project be planted 100% with grass seed varieties from Seed Research of Oregon.

This uniquely designed links-style course has received many high reviews from golf publications and players.

Wilmington Country Club

Wilmington, DE

This old, high-end country club had a major renovation in 2007/2008.

Certified golf superintendent Dan Pierson discussed his grass variety choices with Dr. Richard Hurley, Dr. Leah Brilman and the other agronomic staff at Seed Research of Oregon while working on his plans.

TYEE creeping bentgrass was planted on his renovated greens, and the fairways were converted to 007 creeping bentgrass.

Chambers Bay Golf Course

Issaquah, Washington

This is the future site of the 2015 U.S. Open, and was the host of the 2010 U.S. Amateur Tournament.

This is a Robert Trent Jones course that received a lot of positive press and media attention as it converted an abandoned mining area into a great golf course with positive impacts on the environment and wildlife in the area.

Construction started in 2006 and was completed in 2007. This course was the winner of the Golf Industry Magazine, 2008 Creative Award. Seed Research of Oregon supplied 100% of the grass seed used on this project, as Dr. Leah Brilman worked closely with her associate Dr. Gwen Stahnke from Washington State University to develop specifications for the golf course.

FIFA 2010 World Cup™ Soccer Fields

Cape Town, South Africa

Seed Research of Oregon, through its South African distributor Agricol, provided seed for 75 game and practice pitches in new stadiums, as well as for a number of renovated ones for the 2010 World Cup soccer games.

We provided about 75 percent of the seed in the mix of grass seed that was planted.

Seed Research has had a relationship with Agricol for about 25 years, supplying seed for golf courses and rugby pitches in South Africa

SR shipped 165,000 pounds of seed for the World Cup fields, a blend of four varieties: SR 4600 perennial ryegrass, Zoom perennial ryegrass, Touché Kentucky bluegrass, and SR 2284 Kentucky bluegrass.

 

Kansas City Chiefs –
Arrowhead Stadium

Kansas City, Kansas

The main stadium of the Kansas City Chiefs is overseeded each fall with Seed Research of Oregon perennial ryegrasses and fine fescues.

The Chief's practice field is overseeded our perennial ryegrasses and fine fesuce while it is repaired with our bermudagrass.

Pezula Golf Course

Knysna, Republic of South Africa

This 18-hole, semi-private course was the winner of the 2007 CNBC International Property Awards (London), as the Best South African Development.

Designed by architect Ron Fream, of Fream & Dale Design, this is a beautiful course along the Atlantic Coast in South Africa that used Seed Research of Oregon grasses for all the greens, and most of the course.

The course has won many awards since its opening in 2000. (formerly Sparrebosch Country Club) Most Environmentally Aware Development in the World, Gold Medal (Homes Overseas Awards 2005)

The Gallery Golf Club

Marana, Arizona

The Accenture Match Play Championship golf tournament took place here in 2008. All 36 greens are 100% SR bentgrass.

In summer 2009, the 18 North Course greens were renovated and Superintendent Paul Ellwood took the opportunity to update the bentgrass on these greens, to better handle the shaded and cooler conditions in the canyons of tje course. Paul direct-seeded a custom Dominant formula (50% 007 + 25% SR1119 + 25% Brighton). The green are showing exceptional winter color and active growth.

The John Fought designed South Course, with excellent views across the open desert to the nearby city of Tucson, winds down through lower native desert and was planted in 2003, using Dominant Southern Creeping Bentgrass Blend (Brighton + SR1119) on the 18 greens.

Pine Valley Golf Club

Ranked # 1 golf course in the USA by Golf Digest in 2008 and considered by many to be the # 1 golf course in the world. This very private club interseeded 007 Creeping Bentgrass into their existing greens in 2007 to help solve some growth and maintenance problems. The private club hosts only local tournaments.

Predator Ridge Golf Club

Vernon, British Columbia, Canada

Built in 2007, the newest 9 holes at this high profile course has received much media attention due to the beautiful location and great design.

Greens on the new course were seeded with 007 Creeping Bentgrass, while the tees were seeded with Dominant Extreme-7 Creeping Bentgrass Blend, and the fairways to a blend of Kentucky Bluegrass varieties.

The Course at Wente Vineyards

Livermore, California

The Nationwide Tour plays The Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship in California at The Course at Wente Vineyards.

Built in the late 1990s, the Dominant Creeping Bentgrass greens are still in great shape with excellent maintenance and strong growth to keep out Poa annua. Fairways, tees and roughs are all planted with SRO cool season turf products and are reported in great shape for the tournament.

Desert Mountain Golf Properties

Scottsdale, Arizona

This is a prestigious 10,000 acre exclusive home development with six full 18 hole private golf courses, built between 1986 and 2006. They are all designed by Jack Nicklaus. All 108 greens are planted with Seed Research of Oregon bentgrass blends – different blend, depending on which varieties were the newest, best adapted at the time they built a new course.

The head agronomist, Shawn Emerson, believes in
Dr. Leah Brilman's bentgrass varieties and has worked closely with Leah for many years on trialing – testing newand experimental varieties. Each course has a different bermudagrass varieties for the tees, fairways and roughs. This dormant bermudagrass base is overseeded each fall and winter with SR's perennial ryegrass blends while the bermudagrass is dormant. This set of courses was the home for 13 years to the PGA Senior Championship “The Tradition”.
