Native bunchgrass west of Missouri; grows to 3'; excellent erosion control grass, deep fibrous rooting; very well adapted to alkaline soils; best suited to deep, well drained sandy to clayey soils; tolerant of some flooding; adapted to sodic, and sodic-saline soils; moderate drought tolerance; common between 3,500 and 8,000' elevations; commonly found with Galleta and Indian Ricegrass.
