Native/adapted to western North America, Rocky Mountains; grows to 42”; thrives in loose, coarse textured soils; well adapted to thin, infertile soils in the absence of competition; common in climates with less than 10” of rain annually; best suited to neutral pH soils; locally grown seed stocks very winter hardy; poorly suited in seed mixtures due to its lack competitiveness.

Drill seeded to 1.5” – 3” deep at 20–25 pounds PLS/acre. 141,000 seeds/pound

Germination in 56+ days in optimal conditions, germination can be delayed for up to 2 years, seed in the fall.

'Nespar – developed from plant material collected in Idaho, adapted to intermountain climates
'Paloma – adapted for range use in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
'Rimrock – very cold hardy
