Native bunchgrass west of Missouri; grows to 3'; excellent erosion control grass, deep fibrous rooting; very well adapted to alkaline soils; best suited to deep, well drained sandy to clayey soils; tolerant of some floodinNative from Arkansas and Texas west to south and central California, north to the Canadian border; grows to 2'; poor forage value; presence in pasture/stand usually seen as a sign of prior range mismanagement; abundant on overused rangeland.

Drill seeded at 6 pounds PLS/acre between 1/2” – 3/4” deep (use 50–100% more seed if broadcast seeding). 260,000 seeds/pound.g; adapted to sodic, and sodic-saline soils; moderate drought tolerance; common between 3,500 and 8,000' elevations; commonly found with Galleta and Indian Ricegrass.
