Seed Research Teams up with Two Winners of the 2008 Golf Builders Awards

Chambers Bay Golf Course was the 2008 Creative Award Winner. This is a true links style course and utilized the same types of species used on the great links courses in Scotland, Ireland and Great Britain. The site on the ocean, with a similar environment was perfect for this type of course and this course has already been selected for the 2010 US Amateur and the 2015 US Open.

2008 Affinity Award for best Environmental Project from the golf course Builders and Golf Course Industry magazine has been awarded to the Bedford Springs Old Course, with it having earned the award for the comprehensive refurbishment of the course, as well as the restoration of Shober's Run, a stream running along side of the golf course. The Bedford Springs Old Course has also just been named one of Golf Inc.'s Renovation of the Year Award for golf courses.The award is in the daily fee/resort division and is based on how well the renovation achieved the overall project goal, course routing, improvement of the course aesthetics and improvement in playability and maintainability. The meticulously renovated Old Course was returned to its original luster in July of 2007. Seed Research was actively involved in helping with the grass selection on this exciting renovation of a classic course.

A Second Award to Bedford Springs by Golf Inc Award:
In its fifth annual golf course awards competition, Golf Inc. recognized the Bedford Springs Resort Old Course, which reopened last July, as the winner in the daily fee/resort division. Forse Design of Hopwood, Pennsylvania, was the architect of the Old Course restoration. Dave Swartzel is the Golf Superintendent at Bedford Springs Resort Golf Course in Bedford, PA.
