2016 Ryder Cup is scheduled to take place September 30 thru October 2 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. Hazeltine National Golf Club was closed July 2010 for the purpose of improving the fairway turf. The old fairway grasses were killed and reseeded with improved varieties consisting of 007 and SR 1119 Creeping Bentgrasses along with SR 1050 Chewings Fescue. The golf course reopened for play in June, 2011. 007 and SR 1119 Creeping Bentgrasses were developed out of the Rutgers University Turf Breeding Program in cooperation with Seed Research of Oregon.

The team Captains are Davis Love III for the US and Daren Clarke for Europe. The Ryder Cup is played in even-numbered years between 12 member teams from the US and Europe. It consists of five match-play sessions played over three days.
