FIFA 2010 World Cup™ Soccer Fields

Cape Town, South Africa

Seed Research of Oregon, through its South African distributor Agricol, provided seed for 75 game and practice pitches in new stadiums, as well as for a number of renovated ones for the 2010 World Cup soccer games.

We provided about 75 percent of the seed in the mix of grass seed that was planted.

Seed Research has had a relationship with Agricol for about 25 years, supplying seed for golf courses and rugby pitches in South Africa.

SRO shipped 165,000 pounds of seed for the World Cup fields, a blend of four varieties: SR 4600 perennial ryegrass, Zoom perennial ryegrass, Touché Kentucky bluegrass, and SR 2284 Kentucky bluegrass.
